Stop Being Afraid of Your Kids!

Hi.
So let's get this straight before I begin my rant. I only have 1 child, 2 technically but my little boy is in heaven. I am a 24 year old mommy and definitely NOT perfect. I have made mistakes, but don't we all?! This isn't about me being an incredible mother, it's about what I've witnessed and learned . All my life I have been around kids, and babies. I have a huge family, and  I have a lot of amazing role models that have taught me to be the woman and mom I am today. So here goes...

WHY?! Are parents these days so freaking terrified of their own children?!? For heavens sake! Stop it! It's perfectly ok to say NO! They're not going to grow up hating you. You absolutely do NOT have to buy your child a toy out of every store you walk into! Oh they're pouting? Boo freaking hoo. Oh they're throwing a fit and people are staring?!? So what? Hi! Take a picture it'll last longer. I'm currently teaching my child that she can't have everything she wants by freaking out in the store.
Seriously, the brattiness and temper tantrums should draw you even further away from giving them what they want. Oh and when you leave the store and they start acting bratty afterwards or do something bad, it's ok to take away what you just purchased!

Be consistent with your disciplining! Or in some cases, START disciplining. Oh they're gonna get mad?!? They won't like you anymore? For what? A few seconds? Ok. Fine. Oh well.
Ever think that maybe the world is going to crap because parents are allowing their children to become self indulged brats?!? YOU ARE THE PARENT.

My biggest pet peeve now as a parent is that parents REWARD bad behavior. Aww they're crying/whining... Here honey play on Mommy's phone/iPad/tablet. (I admit I have made this mistake before, and realized what I was doing was wrong.)  Media/technology the things they have for kids now is insane! And they love it, which is why it should be a reward for being well behaved. You were really good in the store today, when we get home you can have the iPad for 20mins. Etc.

And stop jumping up the second they get hurt to kiss boo boos and baby them. If they're crying and bleeding, by all means tend to them. However, if they're whining for attention and you clearly can see they're not hurt. STOP. Let them be kids, let them climb the tree, let them play in those play areas at the mall, let them play sports, be in gymnastics, let them make noise and let them get hurt. Guess what?! When school begins their teachers aren't going to be there to kiss boo boos and scoop them up off the ground. In the real world, nobody will be there to pick you up when you fall, so let them dust themselves off.

I've seen first hand what lack of parenting and disciplining does to people. They grow up and think everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. The lack of parenting is what caused these "grown ups" to believe they're entitled to everything they want.
Kids are selfish, they only think about what they think they need. It's my job as a parent to teach them to be kind, to be mindful, to be courteous, and loving. Teach them how blessed they are to have the things they already have, because frankly some kids don't have anything. Teach them to give. Teach them to treat everyone the same. At the end of the day, if my daughter grows up to be  all these things, I'll know I've done my job . Oh and it doesn't take toys, clothes, shoes, and money to become these things either.

STOP TEACHING THEM THAT THEY ARE THE WORLD,
AND START TEACHING THEM HOW TO BE PART OF THE WORLD.

Review: Sofia The First, Once Upon A Princess

It's official, my 10 month old child is absolutely obsessed with this movie. I have no idea why, or what it is about it.. or how it can possibly catch a 10 month old baby's attention long enough to watch the ENTIRE movie.. but it does. :] I don't want to give too much of the movie away, but I like it just as much as my daughter! I love the part where they say "rule onto others, as you would have them rule onto you." I have probably watched this movie EVERYDAY since it was released on the Disney Channel, thank goodness for DVR. It is the only thing that she will sit still for, the only thing that will get her to lay down with a bottle. We were at the Disney Store the other day and I kid you not, Lei saw little Sofia figurines and started crying! SHE NEVER CRIES, especially not for toys... until then. needless to say, it became just one more thing we added to her Christmas present collection. anything for MY PRINCESS.

It's the Holiday Season!

one of our family pictures. <3

my PRINCESS.

this is one of my favorites, she's PERFECT.

10/11/12 Lei is officially CRAWLING!

So in my previous post there are pictures of Lei with her cousin Noah. Noah has been crawling since he was about 5 months old, maybe even before that. I couldn't wait for Lei to start crawling soooo when she started to do so last night her Ty and I were SO EXCITED. :] I'm glad we chose to stay downstairs and watch Jersey Shore or we never would've seen that she can crawl! (OK, maybe never.. but still.) It's a very important milestone to me, because I never crawled. I went straight to walking, since I sort of had trouble breathing whenever they'd try to do "tummy time"lucky for me my baby girl didn't have that problem and she loves to lay on her belly! maybe tomorrow I can record her crawling, such an exciting time for a first time mommy (and daddy of course!)

LOVE getting ready for HALLOWEEN!

So we went and got Halloween pictures taken, Lei is going to be Cinderella! Because she's our little Princess of course! Just look at her with her pumpkin, unfortunately her stroller will have to do as her carriage on Halloween. :]

she has 2 TEETH!

This is her cousin Noah, born 2 days after her. He's her little sidekick. LOL.

idk what it is about this picture, but I am crazy about it!

she wasnt very amused during the first few pictures, LOL.

REVIEW: Lisa Rachel Sulfate Free Conditioning Hair Cleanser

So recently I was at Ross and when I go to places like Ross or Marshalls I like to rummage through their hair care, make-up, etc. So anyways I saw the bottle what to me looked like a "Wen" bottle.. but when I went to read the label is said Lisa Rachel.. there were various other ones there, I just decided to grab the one that seemed to pertain to me the most.. Which would be why I chose the one that said "for damaged hair". I use lots of heat and products in my hair, hence, the damage. Anyways, I had never heard of this brand before so I tossed it in my shopping cart and as I continues to shop I looked up reviews with my.. not so smart phone. Jk, I actually like my phone a lot.. it's no Iphone, but it works.. that's really all I care about.. ANYWAYS lots of the reviews compared this product to WEN which I have been dying to try.. but the price is a little to steep for a stay-at-home-mommy budget. anyways, this product was $5.49! So it wouldn't kill me to try it anyways. So I have been using it for about a week now.. and i LOVE it. I tend to shower in the middle of the night, or at least after my baby goes to bed. So I usually just air & towel dry my hair.. and OMG what a difference it has made in a WEEK. Usually when I try new products it takes a while for me to notice a difference since my hair is almost to my derriere. ;] thats french for BOOTAYYY, lol. But my hair is so soft, and so much easier to manage now. My hair used to get tangled like CRAZY especially at the nape of my neck, but for some strange reason I havent had that problem! Seriously, sometimes it looked like the bottom of my hair had dreads. EW. anyways I don;t know what the price of this stuff is without it being at Ross.. BUT whatever the case may be, I will continue to use it. now i'm very tempted to purchase WEN, but other reviews I have read say that this is the exact DUPE or that it's better. so we will see. thank you for reading this review, have a wonderful day!

Update on Baby Lei, 7 months old

she's becoming such a big girl, its bittersweet. she can sit up now & she is eating solid foods. she still can't crawl though, we're working on it. she's the loudest baby ever, or I think she is. she screams so much, and loves attention.
she LOVES the water, and LOVES swimming. I'm so glad we chose to get a pool this summer. it calms her down so much, and we have these two giant palm trees that she just LOVES to stare at while she swims.
& this is her best friend/cousin, he was born two days after her & was a serious miracle baby. we try to get them together at least once a week, they really don't know whats going on yet.. but I love having them together. It's so much fun. They may not look like cousins, but they really are. If you look closely they have the exact same clef chin!
